Although Eindhoven has yet to become a high-tech hub, it still has a probability of becoming a center for deep tech within Europe.
Several locally based corporates like High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Technical University of Eindhoven, ASML and Philips, are looking towards other enterprises in Europe, and they’re also applying everything they’ve learned to the strategy of Eindhoven’s region. Back in 1891, Philips was launched in Eindhoven, and it played a huge role in becoming a tech hub in this region.
A huge number of patents is produced in Eindhoven each year, despite the fact that the region has a small population and is a center for an excessive number of hardware startups. For example, the local High Tech Campus is highly focused on hardware too.
The city of Eindhoven is considered to be strong in areas such as robotics, photonics, medical devices, deep tech, materials science, automotive tech, medtech, long-lasting tech, hardware and precision engineering and Big Data according to the survey respondents. Further, the respondents are also looking forward for more scale ups and startups that are focused on hard tech and Al.
On the other hand, Eindhoven is considered to be much weaker in areas such as consumer products and fin tech, due to the fact that it’s located in a small place with limited international visibility.
According to one respondent, in the next 5 years,“Eindhoven will have evolved to the Netherlands’ second-largest tech ecosystem, behind Amsterdam. On a European scale, Eindhoven will have entered the top 10.”
